The mission of the Athens State University Regional In-Service Center is to serve our systems by encouraging growth opportunities for teachers that ensure success for all students.

The Athens State In-Service Center is one of eleven regional in-service centers in the state. Our purpose is to provide professional development activities for the 4,500 K-12 educators in 132 schools in these ten school systems: Athens City, Blount County, Cullman City, Cullman County, Decatur City, Hartselle City, Lawrence County, Limestone County, Morgan County, and Oneonta City. In addition, our center administers four state initiatives including the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM), Technology in Motion (TIM) and Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI). Teachers and administrators are made aware of workshop listings through newsletters mailed to the In-Service Center representatives in each school system. The newsletters provide information about professional development opportunities. All registration is done online through the STI-PD database. For those interested in attending a workshop with no access to STI-PD, please call us at 256-216-6622.
